Year-round markets recommended to investors

Destinations which attract tourists all year round could be lucrative investment markets, experts have suggested.

According to Holiday-Rentals, many second home buyers own properties in places such as Spain, Italy and France.

Spokesperson Sarah Chambers said these countries are all major hotspots because they are consistently popular with holidaymakers.

This means that investors can collect higher returns than in places with a more seasonal tourist trade.

Ms Chambers commented: "The common denominator is they're all year round."

Speaking to the Telegraph, she said places with cultural or sporting attractions could be particularly good places to own a rental property.

However, she suggested that investors make it clear that there are year-round attractions when advertising their residence to consumers.

This comes after NuBricks.com stated that the credit crunch is not putting people off travelling abroad, despite the "doom and gloom" in the media.
