World Travel & Tourism Council report welcomed by Montenegro
Montenegrin government officials have welcomed a new report from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) into the country's tourism prospects.
The international travel organisation said the country should focus on marketing itself as a high-quality product, while improving the country's infrastructure to help achieve this.
Montenegro has also benefited from its independence from Serbia because it has made the country more stable, while the fast-growing economy should not lose sight of the need to develop the country in a sustainable fashion, the Visit-Montenegro.com website reported.
Jean Claude Baumgarten, president of the WTTC, highlighted the "great possibilities" and the fact that northern Montenegro is a "gift from god" as reasons why people should be optimistic about the nation's growth - much to the benefit of property investors.
Montenegro's minister for tourism, Pedrag Nenezic, commented: "The report is realistic and has identified the main positive sides and weaknesses of Montenegro as a tourist destination."
He concluded by saying that he found the projections "encouraging".
Recent statistics announced by Tivat Airport suggest that the tourist industry is expanding rapidly in Montenegro - as evidenced by higher volumes of air traffic.
