Wine lovers 'will enjoy Turkey'
Turkey could be a highly popular destination for connoisseurs of good wine, according to an expert.
Sibel Cinar Oguz, from the tourism department at Cukurova University, said that many countries were earning a high income by marketing themselves to wine lovers, such as France, Spain and Italy.
Speaking to the Anatolia News Agency, he urged Turkish tourist authorities to follow suit, since many high-qualities wines were currently being produced in the country.
Mr Oguz commented: "Turkey's wine regions have recently started making use of the magical atmosphere created by wine."
He added that many parts of the country were "famous" for their locally-produced wine, such as Ankara, Izmir and Nigde.
This could prove to be a factor that attracts both visitors and overseas property investors to these regions.
British Airways recently announced that it will launch new services between the UK and Turkey from April next year.
The carrier will offer passage to the city of Antalya from Gatwick Airport.
