Weather concerns lead to early holiday bookings
Last summer's torrential downpours have prompted many people in Ireland to book foreign holidays for 2008.
Budget Travel stated that the poor weather in the country led to a massive rush for last-minute deals, to the point where there were not enough places available for everyone.
The firm added that many were now choosing to book this year's holiday well in advance in order to avoid the possibility of a repeating this scenario.
Clem Walshe, head of marketing at Budget Travel, told the Irish Independent: "People definitely got caught out last summer.
"We have already seen clear evidence of people saying 'I'm not going to get caught out again'."
He said that areas which offered the guarantee of good weather, such as Spain and Portugal, were the most popular locations among Irish consumers.
This comes after Limerick Travel highlighted the two countries as major tourist spots among people from Ireland.
Company director Tony Brazil told the Limerick Post that this was partly because people owned a second home in these locations.
