Water network in Bulgaria 'to be improved'
The government is Bulgaria is set to start a project to improve the country's water sector, according to reports.
Such projects will be worth about 200 million leva (£68 million) and funding is set to be given by the World Bank, reports the Sofia Echo.
A loan believed to be in the region of 109 million euros (£73 million) has been granted, the regional development and public works ministry stated.
Overall, improvements to the sector are diverse and could include the building of dams at Neikovtsi and Luda Yana.
After the initial procedures are in place, it is expected that building and construction will begin as early as April next year.
Water supply is to be boosted after the building of 6 to 8 dams by 2012, according to Dimcho Mihalevski, deputy regional development and public works minister.
In related news, contracts are set to be awarded to improve the road infrastructure in Bulgaria.
