Water and road contracts 'bidding begins'
Bidding has started in Bulgaria for contracts to improve the water and road infrastructure in the country.
In total, there are 22 European Union (EU) funded projects, which should be worth around 21.6 million euros (£14.6 million), reports the Sofia Echo.
The process was instigated by the regional development ministry in Bulgaria as it looks to make the country more accessible in terms of tourism, the paper claimed.
Overall, the EU is set to plough 16.2 million into the projects, while the deadline for companies to take up potential contracts and make a bid for 10 lots is September 18th.
Present water supplies will also be repaired in order to further improve the network, the reports suggested. Treatment plants will also be connected with waste water.
Earlier this week, the government said that 1 billion euros will be spent on improving the road network in the country over the next 6 years.
