UK-Montenegro flights launched

Montenegro looks set to attract more people from the UK following the launch of direct flights between the two countries.

As of this week, services from London's Gatwick Airport to Tivat are now being operated by Montenegro Airlines twice-weekly.

The flights have been widely tipped to encourage growth in the eastern European country's tourism industry.

This could potentially enhance the appeal of Montenegro to overseas property buyers, which would in turn stimulate its housing market.

Commenting on the new flights, Aleksandra Gardasevic Slavuljica of Montenegro Airlines said they are expected to be very profitable.

Speaking to the Visit Montenegro website, she added that extra services between London and Podgorica will be launched later this year.

This comes after independent analysts at Amberlamb said the nation's holiday industry is currently "booming and thriving".

The organisation said recent growth in the sector has been driven by the prospect of imminent accessibility improvements.
