UAE unveils plans to become the most successful country in the world
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is aiming to become the most successful economy in the developed world, according to new claims from Dubai's leader, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Sheik Mohammed, who is also the federal prime minister, announced plans to overhaul the education and judiciary systems, while noting that nationals should be encouraged to go for private sector jobs that are currently filled by foreign staff.
The Associated Press quoted the leader as saying that the current education system is "compiling huge losses to the UAE" and that change is necessary without any compromises.
"We have to change the existing mind-set, and replace it with a culture that spurs creativity, innovation, dedication and productivity," he commented.
Sheik Mohammed's comments follow the publication of a new report from the World Economic Forum, demonstrating that the UAE has the strongest economy in the Middle East. However, it noted that education and foreign investment rules could be improved further.
The UAE is currently ranked 29th out of the 40 most developed economies in the world.
