UAE 'highly competitive economy'

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been identified as having a particularly competitive economy, making it an attractive prospect for overseas property developers with their sights on the Arab states.

According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) the UAE holds the Arab world's most competitive economy, benefiting from an upsurge in investment from abroad and continued interest from business, as well as private investors.

Many Arab economies, including Dubai, have seen a boost in recent years and the UAE has benefited particularly from a well-developed infrastructure.

According to the WEF Arab World Competitiveness Report 2007, UAE ranked 29th overall in its group out of 40 countries.

Last month it was reported that the UAE came out ahead of countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index in the first ever Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, beating Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, among others.
