Turks 'upbeat over economy'
A high number of Turks believe that the economy is heading in the correct direction, according to a new report shown to Reuters.
The poll, from the International Republican Institute (IRI), stated that nearly half of respondents believed the country's economic situation has improved in the last 5 years.
Such comments come despite a prevailing view among those questioned that they thought the country is maybe heading in the wrong direction.
However, the majority are upbeat that the economy is in good shape and the nation is well poised to strive ahead.
Improvements have been since the AK Party came to power, almost half of those polled suggested, the report found.
The Turkish army is also seen to be the most prized institution the country has, according to the survey.
A non-profit organisation, the IRI states that it exists in order to promote freedom and democracy on a worldwide scale.
