Turkish property buyers attracted by 'reasonable prices'

A Scottish couple who recently purchased a home in Turkey have explained that they were attracted to the country by the affordability of its property.

Brian and Anne Wardleworth told the Glasgow Sunday Mail that they initially planned to buy a property in Spain, but felt the home they desired was not available at the right price.

After attending an overseas property exhibition near their home in Aberdeenshire, the couple realised that an off-plan development in the Turkish resort of Alanya would meet their requirements.

Mr Wardleworth told the newspaper: "The prices of property in Turkey seemed reasonable and we were very impressed. The plans of houses we were shown looked like what we had in mind."

After moving into the house in November last year, the Wardleworths are pleased they chose to enter the rapidly expanding Turkish property market.

"As soon as we turned the key in the door for the first time, we knew we'd made the right move," Mr Wardleworth said.

Frances Tuke, spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, recently said that Turkey will be one of the "big growth areas" for tourism this year.
