Turkish airport plans approved
Plans to build a new international airport near the Turkish city of Alanya have finally been approved.
The proposal to build a portal on the outskirts of the city had been under consideration for several years before it was finally confirmed.
This could potentially boost both tourism and overseas property investment in the region, as it has become highly popular with Britons in recent years.
Commenting on the move, UK newspaper the Telegraph said: "This is good news for British buyers who have been showing increasing interest in the region."
The publication added that new apartments are currently on the market around Alanya from about £60,000.
Located at Gazipasa, 30 km outside of Alanya, the airport could be open by the middle of next year.
Earlier this month, the Alanya region was praised by German buyer Gunter Wojeiechowski, who told Today's Zaman that the area offered good scenery, coastal views and year-round sunshine.
