Turkish Airlines plans to expand
Turkish Airlines has announced plans to expand its range of services to other countries, according to reports.
The Voices newspaper stated that the carrier was preparing to replace some of its planes with new long-haul aircraft due to high growth rates in recent years.
Commenting on the move, Turkish Airlines general manager Temel Kotil said it had made a five-year plan and would announce the new orders at the start of 2008.
He added that the carrier wanted the strong rate of growth to continue and for it to transport a higher number of passengers.
Mr Kotil said: "Our aim is to carry 30 million passengers by 2010."
In addition, he predicted that Istanbul Ataturk Airport would turn into one of the biggest transport hubs in the region.
This comes after Volvan Simsek of the Professional Hotel Managers Association told Today's Zaman that Turkey had the potential to become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
