Turkey will be one of the world's '10 biggest economies'
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, has lauded the country's economic progress over the past two decades and pledged to make the country on of the world's 10 largest economies by 2023.
In an address to the nation, Erdogan pointed to the political and economic stability the country has achieved over the past four years, and highlighted the dramatic reduction in inflation, MSNBC reports.
"We have reduced inflation rates to single digit figures for the first time in more than 30 years and maintained a stable and uninterrupted course of economic growth over the last 19 quarters," he said.
He added: "Our target is to make Turkey one of 10 biggest economies of the world by the time our republic reaches its 100th anniversary."
Outlining his vision for the future of Turkey internationally, Mr Erdogan talked of the Kars-Tbilisi-Baku railway project, which he hopes will make "valuable contributions to relations among peoples in a huge geography extending from Asia to Europe and to the efforts of consolidating the environment of friendship and peace in the world".
Political stability and economic growth have made Turkey an attractive investment opportunity, as has its embracing of international income.
