Turkey 'is aiming to promote European trade at industry fair'
Turkish businesses are aiming to maximise trade with European countries while highlighting the investment opportunities presented by the country during the course of a major technology fair this week.
With Turkey being nominated as partner nation at the Hanover Trade Fair, the country is seeking to promote itself as an important - and attractive - conduit for trade between Europe and Asia, as well as a major investment destination in its own right, the DPA news agency reports.
Murat Yalcintas, president of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, said that Turkish businesses could take confidence from the performance of two previous partner nations - India and Russia.
"Turkey has an opportunity to reach the level it deserves by presenting its potential at the world's biggest industry and technology fair," he remarked.
Earlier this month, Turkey's minister of state for finance revealed that the latest economic statistics indicated that the country had entered a new period of long-term sustainable growth, the Turkish Daily News reported.
The country has been experience marked growth ever since reforms were implemented after the economic crisis in 2001.
