Turkey attracts more foreign visitors in 2007

The number of people choosing to take holidays in Turkey rose last year, new figures have revealed.

According to the Turkish Hoteliers Federation (Turofed), the country attracted 22.3 million foreign visitors between January and November 2007.

This is 18.15% higher than the figure recorded during the same period of the previous year.

Ahmet Barut, chairman of the board at Turofed, said the rate of growth was much higher than anticipated.

Speaking to the Turkish Daily News, he added that the overall figure for 2007 was likely to be about 23 million.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has tipped the country to be a hotspot for overseas property investors during 2008.

The newspaper stated that Turkey's second home market is growing fast and offers "great value" to foreign buyers.

In addition, it said the introduction of extra flights from the UK during the next few months will help attract more British investors to the country.
