Turkey aims to attract Indian tourists

Turkey's tourist industry could be set for a boost in the new year from the launch of new flights.

Turkish Airlines is planning to increase the number of services going to India in an effort to attract more visitors from the country, reports TravelBizMonitor.

Although the carrier already operates flights to Mumbai and New Delhi, it wants to increase the frequency within the next six months.

In addition, it wants to use larger planes in order to allow it to transport more people between the two countries.

Lokesh Bardia, sales and marketing manager- at Turkish Airlines, commented: "We are negotiating with the [Indian] ministry of civil aviation for allowing us to increase the frequency and for operating bigger aircraft on the routes."

In addition, plans are underway to operate services to Bangalore and Chennai, therefore opening up the Turkish market to more of the Indian population.

This should increase demand for holiday accommodation among visitors, potentially creating new opportunities for rental investors to cash in on the surge in tourism.

Earlier this week, Turkish Airlines reported that it had generated increased profits over the last year.
