Turkey a top 10 property investment destinations of 2009
Turkey proved to be one of the most popular destinations for overseas property investment in 2009, according to propertyabroad.com.
Despite dropping 2 places in the property website's most recent list of popular destinations, Turkey ended up in 5th place for the year as a whole. The country finished 'as expected' having spent most of the year in the top 5 or 10 of the rankings.
The site believes that the sales of repossessed and distressed properties have boosted the markets of countries further up the table, including America and Spain.
Turkey could also see popularity has an overseas property investment hotspot if signs are to be believed.
easyJet and Monarch have both announced that they will be running extra flights to destinations across the country in the summer to cope with an increase in demand. Monarch reported a 200% increase in demand for Turkish holidays in 2009.
Istanbul is predicted to receive a significant influx of tourists thanks to its title of European Capital of Culture 2010.
