Trade centre 'to attract visitors'
Work has begun on a new trade centre in Sofia, which is due to open in 2009, according to Plamen Ilchev, the head of ECE Bulgaria.
ECE Projektmanagement and Sparkassen Immobilien AG have stated that construction has begun at the Serdica site, reports the Sofia Echo.
In total, the firms are going to invest 180 million euros (£121 million) in the site, which will house almost 200 shops, news that may be of interest to potential property investors.
On top of the 50,000 m² of mall, there will be an administrative area that covers 35,000 m², the publication stated.
It is hoped that an improved infrastructure will lead to 1 million customers being attracted to the development.
A focus is set to be on fashion at the venue, with sports shopping facilities also included.
Earlier this week, it was reported by the paper that the predicted level of revenue generated by tourism in the country is set to double by 2013.
