Tourists set to flock to Morocco

Owners of rental accommodation in Morocco could be set to benefit from an influx of British tourists.

According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators, the north African country is increasingly becoming a hotspot for people from the UK.

Derek Moore, chairman of the organisation, said this is partly due to financial issues in Europe, reports World First.

"I can't see the value of the euro weakening in the coming months," he commented.

As a result, he believes more British consumers will travel to destinations located outside the eurozone, such as Morocco.

He said the country is "not that much further" to travel to from the UK.

This means that tourist accommodation in Moroccan tourism hotspots is likely to be in high demand, a development which could be lucrative for buy-to-let investors.

Morocco attracted a record number of people last year, as about 7.4 million tourists chose to visit the country.

The government is currently aiming to boost annual visitor numbers to 10 million by 2010.
