Tourists 'return to holiday spot to buy property'
Many overseas property buyers are choosing to return to the site of their favourite holidays, according to an expert.
Property writer Kevin Moore said that many buyers in markets such as Cyprus were people who had previously visited the country as a tourist.
He predicted that the trend of former tourists investing in foreign markets would continue for "quite some time", as the island was still a highly popular holiday destination.
This, he stated, was helping to "feed the countries' economy", as overseas investors were helping to boost the property market.
Mr Moore commented: "Luxury villas are springing up all over the island as the Cyprus property boom continues to pour new money into the country."
He added that this had resulted in tourists changing their habits, as many were moving away from hotel and apartment-based holidays in favour of private rentals of villas or luxury apartments.
This comes after the head of the Larnaca Tourism and Development Awareness Company told the Cyprus Mail that said that about half of all the tourists on the island were British.
