Tourists head for beaches and cities
Holidaymakers from the UK are increasingly taking in a variety of locations while overseas, travel experts have stated.
According to Holidays-Direct.co.uk, many British tourists are combining a city break and beach holiday.
The online travel agency said that while people are spending time relaxing by the sea, they are also taking the opportunity to visit other places of local interest.
Spain was highlighted as one location where this trend is particularly apparent, as people are enjoying its beaches while also visiting cities including Barcelona.
Jon Pearce, spokesperson for Holidays-Direct, commented: "It's located by the beach, allowing holidaymakers to combine their summer beach holiday with activities in the city."
He added that by taking in different places and leisure activities, everyone in the travelling party is getting the chance to enjoy something which suits them.
"There's bound to be something for everyone," he said.
According to the CBI, consumer demand for trips to other countries has remained very strong.
