Tourism boosts worldwide economy

The growth of international tourism is having a positive effect on many countries across the world, experts have stated.

According to NuBricks.com, popular holiday destinations are benefiting from high levels of consumer spending and demand for accommodation.

The website cited figures from the World Travel and Tourism Council which show that travel and tourism currently account for about 10% of the world's gross domestic product.

NuBricks.com believes that this figure will continue to increase as more and more consumers tap into previously inaccessible locations and emerging markets worldwide.

This, it said, could have a knock-on effect on the housing markets in the most popular locations, as more people will either seek to buy a property abroad or emigrate full-time.

The website commented: "Tourism and travel creates a ripple effect on the local economy with growth in tourism to an area resulting in increased service requirements, commodities and property."

According to Kayak.co.uk, growing economic uncertainty is not stopping consumers from booking trips abroad.

Tourists stated that instead of depriving themselves of a trip abroad, they would attempt to offset the financial impact by cutting back elsewhere.
