Spanish property market 'has few long-term worries for investors'

The Spanish property market has few long-term worries for investors, in spite of price fluctuations observed in the last week, according to one property expert.

Simon Conn, managing director of mortgage broker Conti Financial Services, has cited the fact that Spain is a well-established market as a primary reason why British property investors should continue to invest there.

He also noted that while off-plan property investors operating in the country may have been in a "stickier situation" in the short-term, prices are likely rebound.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Mr Conn remarked: "Brits with homes on the Costas should not be concerned about short-term price fluctuations, provided they are in the market for the long haul."

Worries about the Spanish property market had surfaced when a number of listed property companies suffered a collapse in their share price on the Spanish stock exchange.

However, Spain's economic minister, Pedro Soldes, said that the slump was simply a market correction and not necessarily indicative of the country's economic prospects, which remain sound.
