Spanish property 'becoming more affordable'
A Spanish government official has talked up the prospects for the country's property market.
Housing minister Beatriz Corredor said people should not be unduly concerned about the recent fall in property values across Spain.
She told the Telecinco television channel that the decline is a necessary correction in the market, which could open it up to more prospective buyers.
Indeed, she said the drop in prices means they are now more in line with affordability levels across Spain.
Ms Corredor added that the recent decline in the housing market is not "a drama".
The comments come after a study identified Spain as the most popular overseas property market among British buyers.
Research by Conti Financial Service placed the European country ahead of France in terms of its popularity with investors from the UK.
This was said to be partly because it offers attractions such as good transport links, affordable prices and excellent weather.
