Spain 'still top for UK buyers'
The sun-touched coasts of Spain are continuing to attract UK buyers in their numbers as evidenced by historical trends, according to new reports.
Research conducted by Moneycorp reveals that a sizable percentage of British overseas property buyers are setting their sights on Spain, with almost twice as many looking to buy in Spain than France.
These findings suggest that while demand for French properties may have waned slightly Spain continues to be as appealing as ever. Experts at Moneycorp argue that the Spanish property market will attract sun-hungry Brits for a number of reasons.
"The market is tried and tested, has a solid history of providing good investment and rental returns and has been a magnet for UK buyers for years," it was stated.
Figures show that 30% of all overseas property enquiries were regarding a holiday home in Spain as opposed to 14% in France.
Recent amendments to Spanish law call for all investors to apply for a Numero de Identificacion de Extranjero (NIE), a unique identification number for non-Spanish residents. It has been announced that the obtaining of a NIE is necessary before buyers can close a purchase.
