Spain 'still popular with retirees'
Spain remains a popular choice with older overseas property buyers due to its high-quality healthcare facilities.
This is according to property expert George Glen, who said that people buying a property for retirement will often favour Spain because of the good reputation of its health services, as well as the warm climate and accessibility.
He told the Herald: "When you are older the quality of healthcare is important. Spain has excellent health facilities, very good hospitals."
Mr Glen said that Spain also appeals to the UK's more senior property investors because they will often have the opportunity to buy in an area where other British people are already based.
"Older people want to go to countries where they are not going to feel isolated," he explained.
Homes Overseas magazine recently commented on the "classic identity" of Spanish property investment locations such as the Costa Brava.
