Spain 'still popular with British holidaymakers'

The popularity of Spain as a holiday destination continues for British tourists, according to the latest research released by the Foreign Office.

During the period between April 2005 and March 2006, a total of 14 million people travelled to Spain from the UK, reports Homes Worldwide.

Furthermore, France was second on this list, with a total of 11 million visitors from Britain, with Italy receiving 3.4 million tourists.

The publication stated that a number of factors contributed to the growing popularity of Spain, including its climate and the high number of low-cost flights available from the UK.

Other reasons for the influx of British holidaymakers included good access and an improved infrastructure, it said, news that may be welcomed by potential property investors.

In related news, the economy in Spain is set for a boost after unemployment levels in the country dropped to their lowest levels in 30 years, according to the National Statistics Institute.
