Spain highly rated in travel awards
Spain's popularity as a holiday destination has been reaffirmed at this year's World Travel Awards.
The European country won in several categories, with experts rating it highly both in terms of its physical environment and transport infrastructure.
For example, the Costa Blanca region was named as the best location for a beach holiday, while Palma Airport in Majorca won the title of top worldwide air hub for leisure travel.
Meanwhile, a new flight between the UK and Spain is set to be launched later this week.
The service from Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood Airport to Alicante will be operated by Ryanair, which said that the area offered a variety of attractions such as shops, boutiques and long beaches.
This will significantly boost the accessibility of the popular tourist hotspot to people in the Yorkshire region, potentially leading to additional interest among overseas property buyers.
