Spain and Portugal 'represent the undisputed European headquarters of golf'
Golf addicts looking for overseas property investments may find that Spain or Portugal fit the bill perfectly after one golf write described the Iberian peninsula as the "undisputed European headquarters of golf".
With large numbers of high quality courses, Spain and Portugal share almost a third of the top-100 ranked courses in Europe, meaning prospective property buyers in the area will have plenty of choice.
Indeed, Golf International writer David Brice noted that the world's top golf architects have been particularly prominent in Portugal and Spain - something that will continue to be the case as the two countries build on their reputation as "the ultimate golfer's delight".
"The Iberian Peninsula is the undisputed headquarters of European golf and with a history, culture and gastronomy to match the best in the world, the fast growing first choice of more American golf travellers than ever before - the perfect year round climate is just a bonus," he remarked.
Spain's Costa del Sol has a disproportionately large number of high-quality golf courses, while a number can also be found in Portugal's Algarve the famous Praia del Rey.
