Spain aims to attract Indian visitors
Authorities in Spain have announced that they are aiming to attract more visitors from India.
Enrique Ruiz de Lera, director of the country's National Tourist Office in Asia, stated that Spain was the second-most visited place in the world.
However, he said that although the Indian market was growing steadily, it wanted to increase visitor numbers from the country by about 10% per year.
Mr Ruiz de Lera commented: "We are growing slowly but step-by-step at a good pace."
He added that initiatives to attract more leisure travellers from the region were currently underway, such as improvements to air connectivity.
In addition, he stated that a new branch of the Spanish tourist office had been opened in Mumbai.
According to figures from the country's tourism ministry, the overall number of holidaymakers arriving in Spain has increased by 1.8% in the last year.
