Small firms 'looking to Turkey'
A high number of small and medium-sized businesses are interested in investing in Turkey, according to new findings from the Turkish Central Bank.
The bank stated that direct investment into the country stood at a little over $10 billion (£4.8 billion) for the first 4 months of this year, reports Today's Zaman.
Moreover, the amount of small and medium-sized foreign firms who established themselves in Turkey stood at 8,641 over the same period, the paper reported.
A chairman at a medium-sized company in the country, German Joachim Behrendt from Nexum Bogazici, told the paper that the economic situation in Turkey is currently a good one.
"One year we are experiencing a desperate economic climate with high volatility and fluctuation and then there is suddenly a period of growth - like now," he said.
He added that the country is starting to connect itself to the European community in terms of economy.
In related news, another record was set on the Istanbul Stock Exchange last Thursday.
