Small business owners 'want a foreign property'

Many small business owners are looking to purchase an overseas property, according to a new study.

Research by Abbey Business Banking found that one in three company bosses wanted to purchase a foreign residence with their earnings, reports the Telegraph.

This was seen a bigger priority than other lifestyle purchases, such as an expensive car or a luxury holiday.

The study also showed that owning an overseas property was much more popular than it had been five years earlier, as only ten per cent cited it as their preferred way to spend their profits in 2002.

Ian Wilson, managing director of Abbey Business Banking, commented: "Bosses work very hard for their money and it's clear they wish to enjoy the rewards of their success."

However, separate research by Virgin Holidays suggests that many bosses could be taking their work away with them.

A study by the firm showed that many workers in the UK either work from home when on annual leave or do not take their full holiday entitlement.
