Showjumpers 'buying in Silver Coast'
Portugal's Silver Coast region is becoming increasingly popular with showjumpers, according to an expert.
Jessica Kuerten, a British champion in the sport, said that a growing number of professional showjumpers were choosing to come to the destination, boosting its status as a hotspot for overseas investors.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Ms Kuerten stated that buyers from countries such as the UK, Ireland and Spain have chosen to invest in the region in order to have a base near to the Silver Coast's new equestrian centre.
She commented: "The weather here is warmer and the livery costs are lower than in the rest of Europe."
The area has long been established as a top destination for golf and other sporting activities, such as sailing, waterskiing and surfing.
According to a recent study by Saga, Portugal is still one of the most popular European holiday destinations among holidaymakers from the UK.
