Short-haul destinations attract second home buyers
Overseas property buyers from the UK are mainly choosing to purchase houses close to home, industry analysts have stated.
According to the BuyAssociation website, short-haul destinations in Europe continue to be the most popular destinations for second home owners.
Spain was highlighted as one of the main hotspots for British property buyers, along with countries such as France and Portugal.
However, the online portal also revealed that some buyers are instead choosing to look slightly further afield at non-European nations.
Paul Collins, property editor at BuyAssociation, said destinations in north Africa for example are proving to be especially popular.
He commented: "That would tend to be the main places."
This comes after Brooklands Group, organisers of A Place in the Sun Live, revealed that interest in buying abroad is still strong, despite the impact of the credit crunch.
The organisation made the claim after revealing that more than 13,000 people visited the three-day exhibition in London in April.
