Serious investors 'looking to non-traditional markets'

Overseas property investors could be looking beyond the usual markets, an expert has noted.

Dan Johnson, director at TheMoveChannel.com, explained that many people are still planning to buy homes abroad despite the economic downturn.

And he suggested that "true investors" are now considering non-traditional destinations.

These may include Argentina, which could offer a particularly attractive alternative to buy-to-let property investors following figures showing its economy grew in August.

Mr Johnson noted that rising prices in the UK prompted many Britons to try to enter the overseas market, but fewer people are now taking that step.

"The serious investors who understand macroeconomics and microeconomics will still be looking at far-flung fields to try and find value," he concluded.

According to the official Argentinean figures, gross domestic product increased by 0.1% in August - compared to the same month a year earlier - despite expectations of a fall. The monthly rise was 1.1%.
