Romania in 'possible new link'

Transylvania could be about to get a new link with London after British Airways announced that it is looking at the area as a possible destination.

Such news comes after the airline doubled the number of flights it offers from Bucharest to London in 2006, reports zf.ro.

Commercial manager of British Airways Romania and Bulgaria Emil Delibashev stated that the infrastructure is highly important to the firm.

"Romanian destinations outside Bucharest are important to us and we are particularly interested in Transylvania," he commented to the paper.

The official added that the number of people who chose to use British Airways to fly with between Bucharest and London has risen by 66 per cent over the past year.

A second daily flight was added last year between Bucharest and the English capital, the publication added.

Recently, officials at Targu-Mures airport said that it has seen increased traffic levels this year, three times those recorded last year.
