Retiring abroad 'is more affordable'
The recent housing boom in the UK has helped make retiring abroad a more affordable option, according to experts.
Saga Travel Money stated that property values in Britain have risen significantly over the past few years, which means more people can now afford to downsize to a smaller home.
The organisation said this also means many can release equity from their main residence to generate the funds to buy a foreign property.
As a result, a greater number of people can now afford to purchase either a second home abroad or spend their retirement overseas.
Lisa Harris, spokesperson for Saga Travel Money, commented: "The dream of retiring abroad has clearly become more realistic."
She added that rising living costs in the UK are likely to make more people seriously consider relocating to another country.
This comes after Allied Pickfords stated that a record number of British people are packing their bags and moving abroad.
