Record number of Britons moving abroad
A record number of people from the UK are choosing to set up home in another country, experts have stated.
According to the Centre for Future Studies (CFS), more than 130,000 Britons are leaving every year in order to find work abroad.
The prospect of earning a higher salary was said to be the main reason behind this trend, as the average professional salary in the UK is about £20,000 lower than in many other countries.
Since the cost of living in some foreign locations is also lower, many expats have found that they can get more for their money if they live abroad.
Frank Shaw, director of CFS, commented: "Higher disposable income is one of a number of quality-of-life factors that influence people."
According to a study by NatWest, people from the UK could see their salary go up by as much as 43% if they move abroad.
The financial provider also found that expatriates also tend to feel healthier and happier after moving abroad, which results in them enjoying a better quality of life.
