Ras al-Khaimah earmarked as the UAE's top prospect

While Dubai may be the most famous of the emirates in the UAE, Ras al-Khaimah (RAK) could be the region's next investment powerhouse, according to a new report.

RAK is home to a number of ambitious property projects and although the high-profile nature of some of these developments may be enough on its own to attract property investors, there are plenty of other incentives for people moving to the UAE.

For instance, there is no income tax for individuals or corporations in RAK, as well as low import duties - both factors designed to encourage foreign investment in the area, Gulf News reports.

Emad Haffar, chief executive officer of property developer rakeen, explained that this is part of a strategy from Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, deputy ruler of RAK and crown prince.

"His highness has put in place a plan which integrates developments and businesses, and puts together all the essential components for a sustainable economy," he remarked.

Meanwhile, in Dubai, new pink taxis have been launched for women who do not wish to share their fare with men, Reuters reported.
