RAK attracts more visitors

Holiday industry officials in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) have revealed that the region is growing in popularity.

According to RAK Tourism, annual visitor numbers rose by more than a quarter in 2007 to approximately 215,000, reports Gulf News.

The organisation stated that many of these people are coming from mainland European countries, such as Germany, France and Italy.

However, it confirmed that it is also looking at way of tapping into various other markets as well.

"We are focusing on increasing the number of tourists from Russia," said Hilary McCormack, manager of RAK Tourism.

She added that further growth in the holiday industry will mean that extra tourist accommodation will be needed within the next few years.

This could be good news for overseas property investors who have been considering investing in RAK's buy-to-let market.

According to Jet-to-Let magazine, the United Arab Emirates is one of this year's top ten investment hotspots.
