Rail group 'aims to help travelling'

A number of high-speed rail operators have united in the bid to improve the services available to travellers commuting around Europe.

Firms including TGV and Eurostar said that the new Railteam group will aim to improve journey times and co-operation between existing companies, reports Homes Worldwide.

They have said that they will invest 30 million euros (£20 million) in the scheme, hoping to enhance the overall infrastructure in areas such as France.

Other operators to have currently signed up include Hispeed and DB, the publication stated.

More choice will also be available after its completion, as well as improved levels of comfort. Furthermore, with more transparency, more seamless transitions will be possible between routes.

In related news, Eurostar recently announced that ticket sales have increased in the run up to its relocation from waterloo to St Pancras in London. An official said that shorter journey times will be possible with the change.
