President gets business leader support
Messages in support of Abdullah Gul have continued in Turkey from business leaders after the Justice and Development party candidate was elected into power.
They stated that his victory was down to strong qualifications and that he had done well to overcome any previous difficulties, reports Today's Zaman.
Chairman of the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists Rizanur Meral said that the country is the biggest winner of the latest election.
"It is the common will of every Turkish citizen to see such a president who embraces and represents all the different segments of society by leaving his political inclinations aside," the official told the publication.
He added that a positive approach will be made by Mr Gul towards the country's role in the global economy.
Such thoughts were matched by other officials, such as the president of the Turkish Union of Agricultural Chambers Semsi Bayraktar and the president of Gaziantep Young Businessmen's Association Yasar Erturhan.
Mr Gul won the recent presidential election with 339 votes out of the 448 cast overall.
