Possible property boom 'in 2008'

Overseas property sales could boom in 2008, according to the currency expert HiFX.

The firm said that overseas property enquiries were up by 46% in June and by 40% in July, with more sales predicted over the coming months, reports Easier.

In its monthly global property hotspots report, the company suggested that the unusually poor weather in the UK has led to an increase in people wanting to escape to hotter shores.

HiFX's Mark Bodega said that the summer is usually a lot quieter in terms of enquiries.

"The summer months are traditionally a quieter time in terms of property enquiries as people tend to be away on holiday; we usually see an uplift in enquiries from September onwards," he told Easier.

He added that there are still a number of currency risks to those who are looking to invest in property abroad and that these should be considered.

Spain has recently seen an increase in the number of tourists travelling to the country, reported Homes Worldwide.
