Portuguese riverside area to be redeveloped
New investment opportunities are being created in Portugal with the redevelopment of an abandoned riverside area.
Portimao could become a hotbed of investment activity once plans to build new properties, amenities and tourist attractions are put into motion.
The area along the River Arade fell into disuse several years ago, prompting developers to come up with the 90 million euro proposal.
Among the planned tourist attractions are family-friendly facilities such as an aquarium and planetarium, as well new infrastructure developments including a cable car connection and new public walkways.
These should provide access between the various leisure facilities, further boosting the investment potential of Portimao.
Earlier this week, local authorities approved the proposals, clearing the way for construction work to begin next year.
This comes after the Irish Independent said that Portugal's property boom was in "full swing", as many areas were being developed to attract foreign investors.
