Portugal offers safe environment for investors
Portugal is widely seen to offer a safe and secure investment climate, according to an expert.
Simon Perks of Santander Totta stated that the European country is "synonymous" with quality among both British and Irish property buyers.
Speaking to the Resident, he said Portugal was attracting investors on the strength of its popularity as a holiday destination.
This, he continued, means that people know what to expect with regards to its lifestyle and standards of living.
Mr Perks added that although it is effectively competing with neighbouring country Spain, it has carved out its own niche.
He commented: "Portugal is a smaller market than Spain and therefore the prices of property are higher and the market more exclusive."
Country Life magazine recently revealed that about 38,000 British nationals now live in Portugal on a full-time basis.
The publication added that a further 11,000 also own holiday homes across the country.
