Poll reveals holiday packing habits
A new survey has revealed what British holidaymakers really take with them on holiday - and whether they actually need to pack these things, in news that could be of interest to property investors looking to furnish their holiday home.
The poll, conducted by accommodation site Youtravel.com, found that almost half of all men take their laptop away with them, but tend to leave it unused while they carry out more traditional holiday activities.
Over a third of women, meanwhile, said they take their gym bags with them so they can keep up their exercise routine while overseas - but again, these are rarely unpacked.
Other popular items that tend to be packed before departure but only taken out when back on home soil include travel speakers and snorkelling equipment for men and hair straighteners and travel irons for women.
"What is clear
is that it's not just the girls who over-pack despite what the boys say - the men are equally bad with additional comments from both sexes admitting to packing far too many clothes," commented Paul Riches, sales and marketing director of Youtravel.com.
A recent study by travel sickness medication provider Kwells found that one-fifth of Britons would not go away on holiday without packing their favourite teabags.
