Olympic Games 'should come to Brazil'

Brazil's president has said the South American nation would be a suitable host for the Olympic Games in 2016.

According to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a recent fact-finding trip to China has been very useful, reports Xinhua.

A delegation has been in Beijing in order to see how this year's event is being managed, while they have also met with representatives of the International Olympic Committee.

Commenting on the trip, President Lula said: "Rio de Janeiro has all conditions to win.

"We have learned from the Chinese about the event's organisation."

He added that the country's hosting of the Fifa World Cup in 2014 would act as an ideal preparation for the Olympic Games two years later.

Although Brazil has only staged the World Cup once before, it is the most successful participant in the competition, as it has won the trophy an unprecedented 5 times.
