New flights to boost Turkish tourism

Turkey's tourism industry is set to be boosted by the introduction of new flights, it has been reported.

According to Reuters, Turkish Airlines will begin offering direct flights between Antalya and Moscow this summer.

This will coincide with the launch of a route between Ankara and the Iranian capital city Tehran.

Both flights should help the Turkish government achieve its aim of doubling the annual number of holidaymakers by 2023.

This initiative has generated considerable interest in the overseas property fraternity, as a significant growth in visitor numbers could create numerous investment opportunities across the country.

Popular tourist destinations could become highly lucrative for investors, especially if their popularity leads to a surge in house prices.

Figures from Turkish Airlines show that passenger numbers between January and November 2007 were 16.3% higher than during the same period of the previous year.

The carrier is aiming to achieve growth of 20% during 2008.
