New flight to Turkey in summer of 2010
The south of England will be better connected to holiday destinations in Turkey this summer as one of the region's airports adds a new destination to its list.
Exeter airport has announced that from May 2010 travellers will be able to fly directly from Devon to the Turkish city of Antalya. The airport is hoping to cash in on the increasing number of Brits that are choosing to holiday outside of the increasingly expensive eurozone.
A recent survey from Home Away UK found that Turkey was one of the most popular destinations for holiday home rentals in 2009 as travellers look for value for money. It predicted that the trend will continue in 2010.
Jamie Christon, managing director of Exeter airport, said that he was confident that the new route would add to the airports success in 2010.
He said: "We are delighted to add Antalya to our list of destinations. Antalya is another non-euro route and I am sure it will be well supported. With our customers looking for value for money, holidaying outside the EU has never been as popular."
Durham Airport also announced at the beginning of September that it would be adding a weekly flight to Bodrum in the summer of 2010 to cope with an increase in demand.
